Background and Significant Appointments

Phillip Russo is the PPB National Director of IT Forensics and has over 27 years of practical, corporate, financial and police investigative experience. In 2004 Phillip was instrumental in establishing an internal IT Forensics capability for “Bankwest”, this was one of the first initiatives of its kind in Australia. Phillip has had occasion to present expert evidence in both State and Federal courts. In 2006 he gave expert evidence via teleconference, from Hong Kong to an Australian Supreme Court, and in doing so, successfully assisted the Australian Federal Police in their first prosecution initiated under the new Australian Federal Cyber Crime legislation.

Phillip is recognised internationally in his field, and has been utilised in varied capacities including delivering Certified Digital Forensic Training to; International Accounting firms; Australian Federal and State Police, the Australian High Tech Crime Centre; Hong Kong Police Computer Crime Squad, Scotland Yard; and various USA law enforcement agencies, including conducting courses at the FBI’s Regional Forensic Labs.
